Progress

Spoke to my father today, who went up and saw the little house in progress yesterday. He said that the framing is complete, and plywood is up.

Bub said they will be doing the windows today, and maybe start on the siding if there is time.

Meanwhile, I am trying to find a door ASAP!

We've settled into our little Fauxtel pretty nicely... we tried to order in some chinese, but they had a 25 dollar minimum. Luckily, the mall right down the street has Chinese, Indian, and Thai food all available side by side at the food court, which is pretty sweet. I don't eat much traditional food these days, but I have a HUGE weakness for ethnically diverse foods because I only started trying them a few years ago.

Of course, it's the FRUIT we eat during the DAY that gives us the power and vigor to pursue such lofty goals, such as building a tiny house on a trailer. ;) Take out at night does nothing for energy (saps some of it actually) but it is very tasty and comforting at this point of our upheaval and temporary relocation.

As long as we eat lots of fruit during the day, a little take out at night doesn't seem TOO destructive.

I also realized that we can walk to the movie theater, or to Barnes'n'Nobles pretty easily.

Hotel Fauxtel

So, we're now living in a glorified hotel room. I was thinking it would be a little less hotel and a little more studio apartment, but I guess this will do. No pool, unfortunately. There is a little grill area... better than nothing outside I guess.

Spoke with Bub today.

Bub Said:

-Planning to do windows Friday, then hopefully start siding.

-We need to find a door ASAP (2'6" x 6'6") --said he cannot side the front until the door is in. (Makes sense!)

-He's going to send me an email with link to color charts for the roofing. Might be able to get a good deal on some "teal" colored roofing the roof guy has on hand. I'm weary of "teal." We'll see. Have to see the color chart.

New Apartment

Hey Everyone... just another update on the housing situation.

We won't be moving into a hotel... I found a decent deal on a furnished studio apartment in one of those new complexes. It's a little expensive, but it's only for a month... and we get to use the pool, exercise room, free 5 mile courtesy bus rides, air conditioning, etc... so that will actually be a nice luxurious stop-off before we move into the new place. And I think we can always ask for one more month if we need it, though I don't hope to need it!

This will give my uncle an extra month, which is two weeks longer than he quoted me for getting it to waterproof... so maybe those extra two weeks can be enough time to get the interior finished up.

Cross ye fingers!

Fear not!

We shall not live in a hotel. I have found much better deals for private sublets and temporary apartment rentals. We will simply rent another place for a month or two. :)
